"Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still "- Dorothea Lange
Laelia is an artist and photographer based in County Sligo, Ireland, available for commissions throughout Ireland and Europe. She has worked with artists, musicians, designers and creative visionaries including Claire Garvey, Caitríona O'Leary, Rosanne Cash, Constance Haumann, Tom Jones, Roger Doyle and Philip Treacy. Her work has been published in Irish and international editorial publications.
Photography is her passion, obsession and way of exploring the world. Rather than documenting reality, she seeks to transform it, creating images that exist somewhere between memory, dream and lived experience. Drawn to beauty, atmosphere and mystery, she is fascinated by the hidden stories that connect people, places and emotions.
Deeply inspired by nature, water, mythology and the human experience, Laelia approaches photography as a process of distillation—revealing the essence of a subject rather than merely its appearance. Whether photographing artists, performers, designers or individuals seeking a unique portrait, she strives to create timeless images that feel personal, evocative and deeply authentic.
She believes that every encounter leaves an imprint, that everyone is our mirror, and that the most meaningful photographs are often those that reveal something we did not know was waiting to be seen
